BEST FILM
The horses
CAUSE: Thoroughbred and Veteran Welfare Alliance
The Horses is about transformation and getting a second chance in life. Max, a Timor Federal police officer, remembers a steel container full of dead bodies and the stench that clings to his memory. It is something he’ll never forget. This short film shines a light on the stigma associated with mental illness and how to overcome Post Traumatic Stress Disorder through retraining an ex-racehorse Bazaconi with horseman Scott Brodie. It is a message of hope for veterans and their families through the work of Thoroughbred & Veteran Welfare Alliance as they continue to help more veterans and ex-racehorses each year.
